General Description

SpectraTrack SP is a two layer, insitu, spike resistant, colored, pervious, resilient polyurethane athletic surface. The total minimum recommended thickness is 13mm (1/2"). The base layer consists of black SBR granules bound together with a specially formulated, single component polyurethane. Conipur 322*. The top layer consists of a mixture of specially formulated, colored polyurethane. Conipur 216* and colored EPDM rubber granules, spray applied to leave the surface porous.

Recommended Method of Installation

Asphalt Check
The asphalt must be impervious and the finished level must not vary more than +/- 4mm when measured with a 3 meter long straight edge. High areas shall be milled off or ground off or heated and scraped to reach the required level. Low spots shall be cleaned, primed and leveled with Conipur 210 A/B mix to obtain the required level.

Installation of SpectraTrack SP
Ensure that the asphalt base is clean and dry. Remove any mud, debris, foreign matter by sweeping, scraping or bowing.

Conipur 322 and 1-4mm clean, dry SBR granules are mixed in a forced mixer** at a recommended ration of 100 parts SBR granules to 20 parts Conipur 322 by weight.

Application of the Base Layer
The mixed material is applied to the asphalt base at a thickness of approximately 12mm (1/2") using a specially designed paver which utilizes a heated screed to level and compact resilient layer. The base layer is then allowed to cure (harden). The curing process depends on temperature and humidity and normally occurs within 24 hours.

*Other Conica recommended products can be used in place of those mentioned.
**In place of batch mixing a specially designed continuous mixer can be used.

Application of the Top Layer
Weight out a batch of Conipur 216 Part A and Part B into two separate containers in the ratio of 1:2 by weight. Pour the two parts into a mortar mixer or similar and thoroughly mix. After mixing add colored clean, dry 0.5-1.5mm EPDM granules, such that the ratio of polyurethane to EPDM granules is 60:40 by weight and thoroughly mix. When mixed, transfer the mixed material into a spray machine, specifically designed for spraying this type of mixture.

Spray the mix onto the surface in two coats to give a total coverage rate of approximately 2kg/sqm. The viscosity of the mixture can be adjusted, if necessary, using ethyl acetate, toluol or butyl acetate solvent but this should be kept to a minimum.

Line Marking / Event Marking
The track shall be surveyed by an accredited surveyor and all lane and event markings shall be according to I.A.A.F. guidelines.

Line / Event Spraying
Lanes and events shall be sprayed using a specially formulated two part polyurethane paint, to I.A.A.F. recommendations and a certificate issued.
